Choosing Our Sisters
The selection
of members for a lifetime involves
the realization and acceptance that each chapter chooses members neither alone,
nor without consideration of the past, present, and future. Membership in Alpha
Chi Omega is determined by mutual choice between the sisters and potential new
members. Alpha Chi Omega chooses its members by considering the five criteria:
Academic Interest.
Alpha Chi holds intellectual development and
scholarly achievement high. First semester freshmen are required to have ranked
in the upper 1/3 of their graduating class or have at least a 3.0 cumulative
high school GPA. Prospective members with prior university grades must have a
minimum GPA of a 2.5.
Character.
Members must accept and reflect moral
integrity and dignity, social awareness, and fraternity loyalty.
Financial Responsibility.
Members are expected to be responsible for the
prompt payment of all financial commitments.
Leadership Ability.
Alpha Chi believes that character,
personality, and leadership are developed through participation in campus
activities and encourages each collegian to be interested in her community.
Personal Development. Alpha
Chi believes in the development of members in their cultural appreciation,
social awareness, personal presentation.
